   Lay the twine along the rope

   Leave a short tail below the section to be bound.

   Make a long fold

   Double the twine back along the rope, leaving the closed fold above the future wraps.

   Start the whipping turns

   Wind the long end around the rope and both sides of the laid-down fold.

   Complete the binding

   Make a close row of turns toward the exposed fold.

   Thread the fold

   Push the working end through the small fold at the top.

   Bury the joining loop

   Pull the starting tail down to draw the small loop beneath the middle of the whipping.

   Snug the wrapping band

   Bring the turns together around the rope while keeping the joining loop buried beneath them.
