   Arrange the hitch cord

   Keep both ends of the smaller cord available below the host rope.

   Make the first upper turn

   Wind around the host rope above the lower attachment area.

   Complete four upper turns

   Continue in the same direction with four adjacent turns.

   Bring the end down

   Cross the outside of the turn band diagonally toward the lower side.

   Make the lower hitch

   Wrap once below the band and tuck the end under the diagonal.

   Check the four-one pattern

   Keep both cord ends below the hitch. The cord eyes and connector used in practical systems are outside this close-up.
