Overlap the lines
Lay the thin leader alongside the thicker fly line. A small tube can help form the tunnel.

Leave room for the wraps
Bring the leader end back along the overlap.

Start the turns
Wrap around the fly line, the leader and the temporary guide.

Complete six turns
Keep the six turns close and in a single layer.

Thread beneath all turns
Pass the tag back through the tunnel under every coil. The guide itself is omitted from this open view.

Seat the six turns
Draw the turns together around the fly line. Keep the tag beneath all six coils and remove any tying guide before seating.
