   Leave a tag end

   Allow enough line to form the two linked openings.

   Thread the eye

   Pass through the hook eye and bring the tag back.

   Loop around the standing line

   Pass behind the standing line and curve the tag back toward the eye.

   Enter the first opening

   Thread the tag through the eye-side opening, creating a second smaller loop.

   Pass through the second loop

   Bring the tag through the new loop.

   Pass through it again

   Repeat through the same second opening to add the extra turn.

   Dress the Orvis

   Moisten suitable line, seat the small turns against the eye and leave a tag until the knot is tested.
