Leave a long tag
Keep enough tag to wrap down the doubled line and return to its upper loop.

Pass through the eye and bring the tag back alongside the standing line.

Double the tag back downward, leaving an open loop above.

Wind around the standing line and the returning tag together.

Continue downward toward the eye in one even row.

Thread the tag through the small opening next to the eye.

Return through the upper loop
Carry the tag outside the coils and through the loop at the top.

Dress the jam knot
Moisten suitable line and seat the coils without overlaps. Check both final passages.
