Start at the hook eye
Bring the tag to the eye from the point side of the hook.

Thread and lay along the shank
Pass through the eye and lay the line against the hook shank.

Make a long loop
Leave a loop beside the shank and return the tag toward the eye.

Start wrapping the shank
Wrap around the metal shank and the straight section of line.

Complete seven turns
Wind toward the bend, keeping all seven turns in one layer.

Tuck through the lower loop
Pass the tag through the remaining loop below the wraps.

Gather the shank wraps
Bring the seven turns together along the shank and draw slack from the side loop. Keep the tag through the lower opening.
