Arrange opposite ends
Leave enough length in each end to make a turn and a tuck.

Make the first turns
Curve the two ends across their standing parts in opposite directions.

Interlock the collars
Take each end around the outside of the other turn.

Bring the ends underneath
Bring both ends below the center, keeping their paths separate.

Pass through the center
Pass the two ends through the central opening beside each other.

Dress the butterfly bend
The standing parts leave opposite sides. The two tails leave together beneath the interlocked collars.
