Leave a binding end
Bring a working end up in front of the bundle.

Make the first turn
Wrap over the top, behind the bundle and underneath.

Add the first riding turn
Cross the front diagonally and complete another wrap.

Add a second riding turn
Make another diagonal beside the first and go behind again.

Tuck under both crossings
Pass the tail beneath both riding diagonals and the first turn.

Bring out the working end
Keep the two ends outside the binding, ready to pull in opposite directions.

Draw the binding snug
Pull the ends apart and bring the two riding turns toward the bundle. Keep the tail beneath both crossings.
