Start below the connector

Take the first pass
Pass the end through the connector and bring it down behind.

Cross around the standing rope
Carry the end around the standing side and across the front.

Bring the end through the connector beside the first pass.

Bring the other leg down
The two running parts leave below the connector on opposite faces.
