Leave a long working end
Leave enough rope for a running loop and a three-turn barrel.

Make the running loop
Bring the end around and back beside the standing part.

Make the first turn
Wrap around both parts at the loop neck.

Add the second turn
Keep the next turn alongside the first.

Add the third turn
Continue once more in the same direction.

Return through all three
Feed the tag back inside the complete barrel.

Bring out the tail
Keep a useful tail beyond the barrel.

Dress the three-turn barrel
Bring the three coils together around the standing line. Leave the working eye open until it is placed around its intended object.
