Figure Eight

A simple stopper with an easy-to-recognize figure-eight shape.

This is a stopper, not the doubled figure-eight loop.

Step-by-step

Leave a working end
Hold the standing part and leave room below for the knot.
Form the first loop
Curve the end around and cross in front of the standing part.
Wrap behind
Take the end around the back of the standing part and return downward.
Enter the first loop
Bring the end in front of the diagonal and into the lower opening.
Pass through
Continue through the opening, behind the lower rim, and out below.
Check the figure eight
Two lobes form an eight. Pull the ends to dress the stopper.
