Tie to an eye with two initial passages, five wraps and a return through both small loops.
The Trilene knot starts by passing the tag through the hook or swivel eye twice. Those passages leave two small loops beside the eye. After winding around the standing line, the tag returns through both loops to complete the locking route.
Keep the eye-side loops open until the tag is through. They can overlap in a front view, so rotate the model to check that both retain the returning end. The five wraps shown are a teaching example, not a fixed requirement for every fishing line.
When to use it
- Attach suitable fishing line to a hook or swivel eye.
- Compare a double-eye entry with a Clinch knot.
Keep in mind
Line stiffness and diameter affect seating and suitable turn count. Moisten appropriate line, draw it down carefully and test before trimming.
