Overhand Knot
A small stopper and the starting point for many other knots.
WHEN TO USE IT
- Stop a cord end from pulling through a small opening.
KEEP IN MIND
Can jam tightly; use a larger stopper when the opening requires it.
Step-by-step
- Start with the end
Leave enough free rope to form a small loop.
- Make a loop
Curve the end around and cross in front of the standing part.
- Enter from behind
Bring the end behind the left side and into the loop.
- Pull the end through
Continue through the opening and out over the top of the loop.
- Check the overhand
Trace the end through the loop. Pull both ends to set the stopper.
